Are Porcelain Veneers Permanent?

Are Porcelain Veneers Permanent?

Placed over the front of teeth, [link id=’117′ text=’porcelain veneers’] are an incredibly quick, very effective, and aesthetically pleasing way to address myriad cosmetic dental problems. Resistant to staining and made of resilient and durable porcelain, veneers can last for several years once placed. However, they are not necessarily a permanent solution and may need to be replaced over time.

[link id=’21’ text=’Fairfax cosmetic dentist’] Dr. Pamela Marzban typically recommends replacing porcelain veneers one at a time on an as-needed basis. During your routine visits for cleanings and examinations Dr. Marzban will assess your veneers to help you determine when each one should be replaced.

When cared for properly, replacing even a single veneer should not be necessary before 10 or more years. Fortunately, proper care is not just easy, it’s practically identical to the routine you should already have in place. Simply brush after every meal, floss twice daily, and visit our office every six months to keep your veneers bright and strong for years to come. Special care such as avoiding abrasive toothpastes and mouthwashes with astringent ingredients may be necessary as well. These can be discussed in greater detail during your routine visits to our office.
