Reconstructing Smiles

Creating a more functional smile is like a lot of construction projects. These kinds of projects often start with accessing the situation, mapping out goals for the result, developing a plan, and then getting to work on establishing a solid foundation to build on. Dr. Marzban’s team of dental professionals integrate these steps into their practice reconstructing smiles. Dr. Marzban’s team uses various cutting-edge techniques to provide patients with treatment options and dental technology inaccessible in nearly every other dental office.

Assessing Smiles

The Marzban team begins the smile reconstruction journey with a consultation or routine check-up, depending on the patient. Because the primary motivation for full mouth reconstruction is to restore balance to the patient’s mouth, Dr. Marzban often discovers that the patient is experiencing TMJ disorder symptoms. In this case, our team uses a TENS unit to relax the muscles around the TMJ to map out the patient’s optimal jaw alignment.

Other times, these initial investigative steps take the shape of recognizing deficiencies in a patient’s oral health, such as:

  • Tooth decay
  • Tooth trauma
  • Missing teeth
  • Tooth wear

Digital Smile Designs

More often than not, a patient’s primary concern when having dental work done is “how will my smile look when it’s finished?” Digital Smile Designs are an opportunity for DSD-certified professionals to demonstrate their plans and goals for patients before any work is done. While the primary mission of reconstructive dentistry is to establish balance to a patient’s bite and create a more harmonious alignment to support better oral health, showcasing smile designs using DSD technology gives patients something to look forward to through their treatment.

Creating Better Foundations

Reconstructive dentistry can take different shapes depending on the patient’s needs but retains the overall goal of establishing a healthier, more solid foundation for a beautiful smile to be built.

In a full mouth reconstruction, Dr. Marzban trains patients to maintain their new balanced bite. For some patients, this training can correct years of TMJ disorder. Assuring the correct bite is also vital to airway-centric dentistry to ensure that your airway is formed correctly. For some patients, this can correct obstructive sleep apnea (which results from a malformed airway). These components, which assure balance and breath, form the foundation of Dr. Marzban’s full mouth reconstruction process.
