Relieve Dental Anxiety with Sedation Dentistry

Sedation dentistry | Fairfax, VirginiaIf you suffer from fear or anxiety associated with going to the dentist, you’re not alone. Approximately 30 to 40 million Americans experience a form of [link id=’142′ text=’dental anxiety’] that prevents them from getting the care they need for a healthy, beautiful smile. Pamela Marzban, DDS is a caring, highly-qualified cosmetic dentist that understands many people feel anxious at the thought of a dental visit so she uses the latest [link id=’94’ text=’sedation dentistry’] techniques so you feel emotionally and physically comfortable to get the treatment you need.

Dr. Marzban is certified by the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation and is trained in all types of sedation dentistry. Whether you’re in need of a root canal, dental crown, porcelain fillings, or even just a cleaning or tooth whitening, Dr. Marzban works with you to determine the best sedation type for you to create a relaxing dental experience.

Depending on your level of anxiety and the type of dental work you need, various [link id=’94’ text=’dental sedation types’] are available at our office including:

  • Oral sedatives: Taken by mouth up to an hour before your appointment. Used in conjunction with a local anesthetic for pain relief if needed.
  • Minimal inhaled sedation: Uses nitrous oxide or “laughing gas” which is inhaled through a soft plastic mask placed over your nose. A local anesthetic is used for pain relief if needed.
  • Moderate IV sedation: Delivered through a vein, medication works quickly and is monitored throughout treatment. Memory of procedure may also be reduced with this method.
  • General Anesthesia/Deep Sedation: Medication is delivered though a vein and puts you in a deep sleep. Breathing is monitored throughout procedure and you will have no memory of the treatment once you wake up.
  • [link id=’139′ text=’NuCalm®’]: A medication-free method of sedation that is safe and based on neuroscience that is effective for even severe anxiety.

Don’t let dental anxiety stand in the way of your healthy smile! Because serious oral health and aesthetic problems can occur from avoiding the dentist, Dr. Marzban personalizes care just for you. Sedation dentistry is not only effective for those who suffer from dental anxiety, but those who experience discomfort or pain associated with highly sensitive teeth, a resistance to numbing medications, an overactive gag reflex, or [link id=’114′ text=’TMJ’].

Pamela Marzban, DDS serves the areas of Burke, Fairfax, and Fairfax Station, Virginia. For more information on sedation dentistry please contact our office at 703-323-8200.
